As I’m sure you’ve all heard by now if you use the internet, David Dobrik and Liza Koshy, YouTube’s sweethearts, officially announced their breakup. To everyone’s surprise, they actually broke up about six months ago. They decided to announce it publicly once they felt comfortable expressing why they decided to call off their relationship. Watch their video explaining everything if you haven’t already:
When I woke up this morning, the whole internet was mourning the loss of this wonderful relationship between two incredible people. My entire Twitter looked like this:

You get the idea. That’s why I decided to make this survival guide. This is for all of us who need a little self-care, a reminder that love IS real, and a good cry.
DAVID AND LIZA BREAK UP: A 7-STEP SURVIVAL GUDIE
1. Take time to mourn
Know that it’s okay to feel sad! Everyone felt really connected to David and Liza’s relationship. Do what we’re all doing: watch a bunch of their vlogs, look through photos of them, watch sad fan edits of their relationship, sad tweet about it. Ride the wave of sadness that we’re all feeling right now.
2. Stop watching videos and looking at photos
Now stop doing what I just told you it’s okay to do. At a certain point, you have to let the relationship die. You can’t wallow in sadness forever over something you can’t control. Once you’ve gone through your healthy grieving period, let it go. David and Liza are still best friends. They’re not going away.
3. Practice a little self-care
Distract yourself from the David and Liza break up by treating yourself. Take a hot bath, do a face mask, eat some good ice cream, buy that thing you’ve had your eye on forever. There’s nothing wrong with taking care of yourself, especially during times of crisis.
4. Have a good cry
Having a relapse? It’s okay! Cry it out, and then pick yourself right back up again.
5. Pick a new ship
The good news is that there are still cute couples out there that we can obsess over! As much as we may feel this way … love ISN’T dead. Sav and Cole are thriving, Zoella and Alfie are as cute as ever, Shane Dawson and Ryland Adams are adorable, and so many more! Pick a new ship to survive. We’ll be okay.
6. Watch a RomCom WITH A HAPPY ENDING
Pick a classic RomCom to watch that’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Make sure you know it has a happy ending. I don’t want you starting to watch Titanic and hate-commenting that I’ve ruined your life. Watch The Proposal, The Big Sick, or my personal favorite, The Holiday. Get in your feels in a good way.
And last but not least…
7. Realize that you’ll be okay if they don’t get back together
Their video did leave things slightly open ended. You can tell that through this David and Liza break up, they still really love each other. Is it possible that they’ll get back together? Yes! Should you hold onto that hope? Probably not. Just in case they are never a couple again, make sure you fall in love with their friendship. We have to protect ourselves out here in these cold streets!
That’s all I have for you. Follow these steps, talk it out with the rest of the internet, and we’ll all be a-okay through the David and Liza break up that made us all feel way too many things.
Comment which step helped you the most!
